Role Overview
The Site Reforestation Development (SRD) Deputy Officer serves as the operational lead for documentation and is responsible for the technical verification of all reforestation data. This role is in direct charge of the timely delivery of seedlings and site materials, ensuring that field teams are never stalled by supply shortages.
Acting as the primary community relations lead for the SRD team, the Deputy manages local cooperation and IP labor relations during planting activities, ensuring that all operations are accurately documented, culturally supported, and verified.
Responsibilities:
I. Data Integrity & Technical Documentation
Responsible for the systematic cleaning, uploading, and validation of all reforestation field data, including GPS- tagged planting polygons and survival count records.
Consolidate field findings into formal Work Accomplishment Reports and technical dossiers to support the SRD Officer’s management reviews.
Maintain the master digital archive for all developed sites, ensuring version control and accessibility for the MEL Officer.
II. Logistics Control & Field Delivery
Execute and oversee the physical movement of seedlings from staging areas to specific planting sites; ensure zero downtime by synchronizing delivery with labor capacity.
Direct the procurement and distribution of field consumables, including fertilizers, stakes, and marking materials.
Maintain real-time records of material consumption (fertilizers/seedlings used) versus remaining stock.
III. Community Relations & Stakeholder Liaison
Act as the lead point of contact for the SRD team when interacting with Barangay officials, Sitio leaders, and IP community elders during the development phase.
Secure and maintain local cooperation and community buy-in as the team moves across different planting blocks.
Address and document any community concerns or land-claim issues encountered during the planting process, escalating them to the SRD Officer when necessary.
Ensure that reforestation schedules respect local cultural calendars and IP traditions to maintain a harmonious working relationship.
IV. Equipment & Gadget Management
Directly responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and inventory of all technical equipment, including GPS handhelds, tablets, and surveying tools.
Ensure all mobile data collection applications and hardware are fully functional and updated before every field deployment.
V. Administrative Support & Accountability
Manage the SRD team’s working budget and ensure the accurate liquidation of field expenses.
Assist the SRD Officer in monitoring team attendance and productivity, ensuring administrative protocols are upheld even in remote field conditions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Information Technology or a closely related field.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in field-based logistics, technical documentation, or community relations.
Proficiency in data management (Excel/Google Sheets) and familiarity with mobile data collection tools like KoboCollect or AppSheet.
Familiarity of silvicultural SOPs, labor productivity tracking, and proficiency in using GPS/GIS tools for field mapping and verification.
Proficient in the use of GPS, mobile data collection apps, and basic GIS software for monitoring restoration plots.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; must be comfortable speaking in front of local leaders, IP elders, and government officials.
Strong cross-cultural communication skills for managing IP labor and community partners in rugged, remote environments.
Highly systematic with a strong focus on detail, data accuracy, and equipment stewardship.
