Role Overview
The Site Reconnaissance & Set-Up (SRS) Deputy Officer serves as the operational backbone and official liaison of the Site Reconnaissance & Set-Up team. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of all field-collected data, the management of surveying equipment, and the coordination of logistics.
As the primary spokesperson and stakeholder liaison, the Deputy manages community acceptance and local cooperation as the team moves across different sites, ensuring that all reconnaissance activities are documented, culturally supported, and backed by a reliable supply chain.
Responsibilities:
I. Data Integrity & Technical Documentation
Responsible for the systematic cleaning, uploading, and verification of all field data (GPS points, polygons, and feature photos) collected by the SRS team.
Consolidate site validation findings into formal technical dossiers and reconnaissance reports for management review.
Maintain the master digital archive for all validated sites, ensuring version control and accessibility for the main reforestation team.
II. Logistics Control & Mobilization
Plan and execute the movement of the SRS team between locations, including transportation, temporary base-camp setups, and field provisions.
Manage the procurement and distribution of field supplies (markers, paint, stakes, and consumables) required for site preparation.
Assist the SRS Officer in mapping out the reconnaissance timeline to ensure zero downtime between site assessments.
III. Equipment & Gadget Management
Directly responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and inventory of all technical equipment (GPS handhelds, tablets and surveying tools).
Ensure all mobile data collection apps and hardware are fully functional and updated before every field deployment.
IV. Stakeholder Engagement & Liaison
Act as the primary point of contact for the SRS team when interacting with Barangay officials, Sitio leaders, and local community members.
Secure all necessary local clearances and community buy-in before the team enters new territories for ground-truthing.
Address and document any community concerns or land-claim issues encountered during the survey process, escalating them to the SRS Officer when necessary.
V. Administrative Support & Accountability
Manage the SRS team’s working budget and liquidation of field expenses.
Assist the SRS Officer in monitoring team attendance and productivity, ensuring that administrative protocols are followed even in remote field conditions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Information Technology or related field
Minimum of 1 year of experience in field-based logistics, technical documentation, or community relations.
Proficiency in data management (Excel/Google Sheets) and familiarity with mobile data collection tools (e.g., KoboCollect, Appsheet)
Proficient in the use of GPS, mobile data collection apps, and basic GIS software for mapping and monitoring restoration plots.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; must be comfortable speaking in front of local leaders and government officials.
Highly systematic with a strong focus on detail and equipment maintenance.
