Its subsidiary for ecosystem services, Kennemer Eco Solutions, launched the Philippines’ first nature-based carbon credit from its agroforestry reforestation project MinTrees in 2023.

Role Overview

The Remote Sensing Specialist (RSS) will lead satellite mapping of landcover, land use change, digital terrain development in the GIS team of KenEco. The strong focus is on landcover mapping via multispectral satellite imagery such as Sentinel 2 and similar sensors. The RSS will report to the Head of Geospatial of KenEco. The RSS will mainly focus on nature-based solution projects for climate action in the APAC region, but also coordinate geospatial efforts for KFI’s agricultural plantations (banana, cocoa, etc.). The position is open to Filipinos willing to be based in Davao City.

Key Responsibilities:

• Employ and improve skills in Remote Sensing of land use via multispectral, drone optical imagery

• Deliver Land Use and Land Use Change maps with a solid Map Accuracy Assessment following best practice such as e.g. GOFC-GOLD REDD Sourcebook

• Participate in R&D efforts for new sensor synergy like LiDAR, RaDAR, done-based camera sensors and other geospatial data modelling

• Support development for geospatial digital solutions https://kennemer.tech/#/

• Work with external service providers on geospatial and digital solutions

• Provide quality assessment and quality control on all geospatial analysis products developed internally and by external service providers

• Develop baselines and monitoring for nature-based climate project for carbon certificates

Qualifications and Skills:

• Willing to be based in Davao City, Philippines.

• Philippines passport

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Sciences or similar

• Minimum 2 years of experience in remote sensing and geospatial analysis

• Excellent skills of recent remote sensing techniques for Land Use Change, biomass estimation, remote sensing of rural and natural areas in general

• Familiarity with software environments like Google Earth Engine, R, eCognition, ENVI, ERDAS, ArcMap etc.

• Passion for environmental conservation and a commitment to protecting natural resources for future generations.
